Tatarstan
Tatarstan is one of the 3 regions chosen for the pilot project of creating accessible environment for people with disabilities and less mobile groups of population."Accessible environment" program is meant to transform seven crucially important spheres of life in the region: education, health care, culture, transport, information and communication technologies, sports, housing. The resultant environment should allow a person with any kind of limitations to move around easily, to enjoy the services he needs, in short, to live a full life. One of the most important factors in creating an accessible environment for disabled and less mobile people is tolerant attitude to these population groups. “Accessible environment must start with our attitude to disabled people; tolerance must be a norm for everybody,” said the mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin.
